About Jack
I am a Biology PhD researcher based in London, completing my doctorate in cancer biology. Alongside my research, I teach and supervise students at university level, so communicating complex science clearly is something I do every day — and something I genuinely enjoy.
What I find most rewarding about teaching is the moment a difficult idea finally clicks. I've learned that getting there is less about how much I know and more about finding the right way to explain something for each individual student.
I'm patient and encouraging, and I make it completely okay to get things wrong, because that's usually where real understanding begins.
You can expect me to be reliable and fully focused on helping you not just learn the material but feel confident walking into your exams.
We will work together to build your knowledge and confidence, and to understand the real-world implications of what you learn.

My lessons are built around a simple idea: any GCSE Biology topic becomes manageable once it's broken into the right steps.
I start from what you already understand and build outwards, using clear analogies and everyday examples rather than jargon.
Throughout each session, I check understanding by getting you to explain ideas back to me, so you're actively recalling the material rather than passively listening. This helps make knowledge stick even under exam pressure. I also go through previous exam questions to help explain what examiners are looking for and how to pick up every mark.
Lessons typically run for an hour and are tailored to each student's pace and confidence — we go faster where you're solid and slow down where you're not.
As a Biology PhD researcher with experience teaching and supervising students at university level, I'm used to making difficult material clear and approachable, and to spotting exactly where an explanation needs to change to help it land.
