About Florence
Hello! I'm Florence, a dedicated English tutor specializing in helping primary and secondary school students achieve academic success in English.
I hold a TESOL qualification. I have been teaching English full-time to both local and international school students for many years, preparing learners for Cambridge Checkpoint, IGCSE, SPM, IELTS, and other English examinations. I speak native-level English and conduct my lessons almost entirely in English to provide students with an immersive learning environment. When necessary, I will explain particularly challenging words or concepts in the student's mother tongue to ensure complete understanding before returning to English.
Throughout my teaching journey, I have worked with students of varying abilities—from those with weak English foundations to high achievers striving for top grades. Many have made significant improvements in grammar, vocabulary, reading, and writing, with some achieving perfect scores in Cambridge Primary Checkpoint and Cambridge Lower Secondary Checkpoint English, while others have progressed from C grades to A grades.
I believe that effective teaching goes beyond simply explaining answers. Every student learns differently, so I take the time to identify the root causes of their difficulties and tailor lessons to address their individual needs. My approach combines systematic language development with proven exam strategies, enabling students not only to improve their English proficiency but also to maximize their performance in examinations.

Every lesson begins with an assessment of the student's current level, learning needs, and examination requirements. Based on this, I create a personalised learning plan that targets areas for improvement while building on the student's strengths.
My lessons focus on developing the core skills required for success in English examinations: grammar, vocabulary, reading comprehension, writing, and exam techniques. Rather than relying on memorisation, I teach students how to analyse questions, structure their answers effectively, avoid common mistakes, and apply proven strategies to maximise their marks.
Lessons are typically 1 to 2 hours long and are suitable for primary and secondary school students, including those following the Cambridge Primary Checkpoint, Cambridge Lower Secondary Checkpoint, IGCSE, SPM, as well as students preparing for IELTS. I also welcome students who wish to strengthen their overall English foundation before progressing to higher-level examinations.
As an English tutor specialising in academic and exam preparation, I have helped numerous students achieve outstanding improvements in both their English proficiency and examination results. My students have achieved perfect scores in Cambridge Primary Checkpoint and Cambridge Lower Secondary Checkpoint English, improved from C grades to A grades, and made significant progress in grammar, vocabulary, reading, and writing.
To ensure every student receives sufficient attention and personalised feedback, I conduct online small-group classes with a maximum of five students. Students preparing for the same examination or who are of a similar age and ability are grouped together to create a focused and effective learning environment. Classes are available on weekends only, from morning until 3:00 PM, making them ideal for students with busy weekday school schedules.
