About Joseph

I am an experienced mathematics lecturer and examiner across different examination boards. I teach GCSE Mathematics, Functional Skills Mathematics and A level Mathematics, supporting students with a wide range of abilities and learning needs.

I hold a bachelor’s degree in Mathematics and a master’s degree in Financial Mathematics. My experience as both a teacher and examiner gives me a clear understanding of what examination boards expect, common mistakes students make and how marks are awarded.

I am patient, approachable and committed to helping students build confidence in mathematics. I understand that many students struggle because of anxiety, gaps in their knowledge or previous negative experiences with the subject. I therefore create a supportive learning environment where students feel comfortable asking questions and learning from mistakes.

My lessons are clear, structured and focused on each student’s individual needs. Whether a student wants to improve their confidence, prepare for an examination, strengthen particular topics or work towards a higher grade, I provide practical and personalised support to help them progress.

About the lesson

My lessons are personalised to each student’s level, goals and learning style. I begin by identifying any gaps in knowledge, areas of difficulty and the student’s confidence with the subject. This allows me to plan lessons that focus on what they genuinely need rather than following a one-size-fits-all approach.

A typical lesson includes a short recap, a clear step-by-step explanation of the topic, worked examples and guided practice. Students then complete questions independently, including examination-style questions where appropriate. I provide immediate feedback, explain mistakes clearly and show students how to improve their method and presentation.

As an examiner across different examination boards, I help students understand how marks are awarded, what examiners look for and how to avoid common mistakes. I support GCSE, Functional Skills and A level Mathematics, including exam preparation, revision, topic support and confidence building.

My lessons are patient, structured and interactive. Students are encouraged to ask questions, explain their thinking and learn from mistakes in a supportive environment. My aim is to help every student improve their understanding, become more independent and approach mathematics with greater confidence.
