About Daria

My name is Daria, and I am a professional language teacher, linguist, and researcher with over 15 years of experience teaching Mandarin Chinese to adults at all levels.
I hold a university degree in linguistics with a specialization in Chinese and English, and I have had the pleasure of teaching a wide range of subjects at university level — from conversational Mandarin and commercial translation to Chinese history, geography, and culture. As a researcher, I specialize in Classical Chinese, which gives me a uniquely deep understanding of the language and its roots.
I genuinely care about the people I work with and find real joy in seeing my students grow in confidence and ability. Whether you are just discovering Mandarin for the first time or looking to take your skills to the next level, I am here to support you every step of the way.

Mandarin Chinese is a language that rewards curiosity — and I am here to make every layer of it accessible to you.
I welcome students at all levels, from complete beginners taking their very first steps to advanced learners looking to refine their skills or prepare for HSK exams. Wherever you are starting from, we will find the right path forward together.
What sets my teaching apart is the breadth of my expertise. I combine multiple methodologies to give each student a well-rounded foundation: tones and pronunciation, grammar, characters and writing — all taught in a way that is clear, structured, and adapted to how you learn best. Chinese is not just a language; it is a window into a rich civilization, and I bring that depth to my lessons having taught Chinese history, geography, culture, and commercial translation at university level.
As a researcher specializing in Classical Chinese — wenyan — I also bring a deeper understanding of the language’s roots, which enriches the way I explain its modern form.
