About Carrie-ann
Hi! I'm a lifelong educator/administrator/supervisor who took a break from full-time teaching to be with my kids for a time. In the interim, I've thrown myself into Educational Advocacy work. However, though there is a child who is benefitting at the end of that process, the work involves mostly adult interactions. Tutoring allows me to continue to also make a connection with kids, which is why I began in education to begin with!
I've worked with kids who are neurotypical and neuro-atypical, those who have mild, moderate, and severe special needs, in regular ed and special education. I will, however, be honest about where, how, and if I think we can work together to support you and your student.

I work with k-5 elementary students, regular and special education, across subject areas. I also work with middle school-level students in the areas of ELA and Humanities.
The way I support children really depends on the child's current need- with homework help, filling in academic gaps, or working on explicit literacy and phonics. My goal is to help figure out where my students are stumbling and shore up those places. Differentiation and individualization are often considered tenents of special education, but in truth, they are descriptions of well-done teaching for all children. Overall, I work toward making sure my students end up more confident in their abilities than where they began!
