About Catherine

Hi, I'm Catherine! I've been teaching for 3 years. I'm very passionate and dedicated to my work, and wouldn't change it for the world. Outside my teaching hours, I give guided tours and animate activities in a museum and organize cultural events such as poetry workshops or art challenges. English has been a part of my daily life for the past 13 years, not only at work, but also in my studies and, most importantly, when talking to my friends, many of which are native speakers. I have grown to love the language and to hold it close to heart just as much as my native language. I think languages are beautiful in their quirkiness and the peculiarities of their rules, their history and their ever-changing nature. I have pursued my studies with a focus on pedagogy and language teaching, and will continue to do so. I've been lucky enough to spend the last two years at an excellent college with courses of unimaginable quality. I use this valuable experience in the creation of my courses.

About the lesson

*See below for group lessons This class offers lessons designed to help you truly acquire the language so you can use it — not just understand its grammar. Start on a learning journey that gives you strong foundations and helps you master the language. The lessons are organized around unique learning experiences, stories, interactive activities, cultural content, virtual field trips and so on. You will be taken step by step through discovering and adopting the language. Creative projects and cultural events, as well as a language journal, will help you connect to your new language and make it truly your own. To support your learning, I offer strategies to learn and understand the language better, as well as grammar lessons to deepen your understanding of your new skills. In this class, we focus on the real, living language and its variants, not an artificial textbook version. We can also incorporate the language skills you will need in a specific life situation, if you are learning towards a special goal. Come learn a language with worthy content about history, arts, science, and literature. Content that is always adapted to your level and needs, but never empty content. Learn to adapt your language to different situations with elegance. I will help you establish a study plan and provide appropriate resources and help with your requests or specific needs you may have. Each lesson and progress plan is adapted to you and your needs, we take advantage of your strengths and work on your weaknesses. A few plus: A web page with all your notes and content selected specifically for you A library of content for you to use your English, ideas on how to practice it, resources to practice what you learned recently and more. Advanced students are welcome to take writing lessons to polish up their written grammar. (recommended to B2 and up) I am most familiar with Canadian spelling. Cultural events such as quiz tournaments, storytelling events, a poetry festival and more are offered throughout the year. *group lessons If you would like to book lessons for a small group (2-5 people is ideal), please contact me for custom plans and pricing. The hourly rate shown on this page is for one-on-one lessons and takes in consideration the planning and creation of tools and custom lessons for the students. A group requires a different style of lessons and each student still requires their own tutoring, so this pricing does not apply. It is definitely a good value per student to have a group, but a custom price needs to be discussed according to your group and each individual's needs. I would be happy to come to a suitable solution with you!

Nicole has a good level in English already. She can easily be understood and pronounces most things very well. We worked on becoming more familiar with the sound and rhythm of English so she can better understand people when they speak. We will work on vocabulary and phrases she will need in her life soon. After that, we there are a few sounds and elements of grammar she can improve on to raise the quality of her English.

When you pay for your lesson time, the following services are automatically included and provided according to your needs: - Planning of the lesson and learning activities. Each lesson is adapted to each student. - Homework, practice projects, study plans and other practice material selected or designed for you. - Correction and feedback on homework or projects. - Availability for questions between lessons. - Creation of custom content for your needs, if needed. - Notes, copies of the board and complementary material on learned content. - A library of material to help you practice, explore topics you are interested in and grow. - Invitation to virtual cultural events. * To receive those services, you must take at least one hour of paid class time during the month. The first free lesson does not count towards this goal. **If you are taking the class as a small group (2-5 students), all students still receive those personalized services; therefore, a different rate per hour must be discussed.
