About Kaitlin

Hi! I’m Kaitlin, a current kindergarten teacher with several years of classroom experience and a passion for helping children become confident readers.

One of my favorite parts of teaching kindergarten is watching a child go from learning letter sounds to realizing they can actually read! I love helping young learners make those connections and seeing their confidence grow along with their skills.

As a classroom teacher, I have experience working with children at many different reading levels. I understand that every child learns differently, and I’m comfortable adjusting my approach, pace, and activities to meet each student where they are.

I strive to create a positive, encouraging environment where children feel comfortable making mistakes, asking questions, and celebrating their progress. My goal is for your child to not only strengthen their reading skills, but also begin to see themselves as a capable and confident reader.

I specialize in phonics and early literacy instruction for kindergarten and early elementary students and would love the opportunity to help your child grow as a reader!

About the lesson

I believe young children learn best when they feel comfortable, successful, and engaged. My approach to reading instruction is patient, encouraging, and tailored to each child’s individual needs.

I focus on building strong foundational reading skills through explicit phonics instruction. Depending on your child’s needs, we may work on letter sounds, phonemic awareness, blending and segmenting sounds, decoding words, sight words, reading fluency, and comprehension.

A typical lesson begins with a quick review of previously learned skills, followed by focused phonics or reading instruction. We’ll practice the new skill together and then apply it through reading, word work, or an engaging activity. I keep lessons structured while adjusting the pace based on how your child is responding.

What sets me apart is that I am a current kindergarten teacher who works with beginning readers every day. I understand that young children need more than worksheets and repetition—they need instruction that is developmentally appropriate, encouraging, and engaging. I also know how important confidence is when a child is learning to read.

My lessons are best suited for kindergarten through early elementary students, especially children who are beginning to read, struggling with phonics or decoding, or needing additional one-on-one reading support.
