About Ryan
I've taught writing for over ten years, and I have been publishing poetry in some of the most prestigious literary journals in the United States for even longer. My collection of poetry was published by Black Lawrence Press in 2019 and well-reviewed by a major newspaper.

My approach is that I do, then we do, then you do. I ask detailed questions targeted to your specific learning goals. I assist with generating ideas, planning out a piece of writing, and executing in original prose that reflects your own voice. I also help you create SMART goals -- next steps that are Specific, Measurable, Achievable, and Time-bound, so that you know exactly what do next, how to do it, and how long it will take. My lessons are appropriate for college students and students preparing to enter college.
