About Hamdy

Hi, I’m Hamdy. I am an experienced educator and tutor with more than twenty years of teaching and tutoring experience across high school, undergraduate, and postgraduate education. For more than ten years, I have worked as a casual academic at the University of Sydney, where I have taught and supported students from a wide range of academic and cultural backgrounds.

I also have recent first-hand experience with English-language study and international English proficiency testing. I achieved an IELTS Academic Overall Band 8.0, with Band 8.5 in Listening, 8.0 in Reading, 7.0 in Writing, and 8.5 in Speaking. This experience has given me a practical understanding of the preparation required for the IELTS examination and the challenges faced by students who are developing confidence in English.

I work with students from different English-language backgrounds and levels of proficiency, including students preparing for IELTS, TOEFL, PTE, and other English proficiency examinations, as well as students who simply want to improve their English communication skills.

My teaching approach is patient, supportive, and structured. I explain concepts clearly, identify areas where a student needs improvement, and provide practical strategies and opportunities for practice. I encourage students to ask questions and actively participate in lessons so that they gradually become more confident and independent in using English.

As an experienced educator, I understand that students learn in different ways and at different speeds. I therefore adapt my lessons to each student's level, goals, and specific needs, whether they are preparing for an examination, improving their speaking and listening skills, developing their academic English, or building confidence in everyday communication.

I genuinely enjoy helping students make progress, and I find it particularly rewarding when a student becomes more confident and sees that they are capable of achieving their language-learning goals.

About the lesson

My English and IELTS lessons are tailored to each student's current level, target score and individual goals. I begin by identifying the areas where the student needs the most improvement and then structure the lessons around those specific needs.

For IELTS preparation, I can support students across Listening, Reading, Writing and Speaking, with particular emphasis on developing effective strategies, improving accuracy and building confidence under examination conditions. I achieved an IELTS Academic Overall Band 8.0, with 8.5 in Listening, 8.0 in Reading, 7.0 in Writing and 8.5 in Speaking, so I can also draw on my recent first-hand experience of preparing for and completing the examination.

For Listening and Speaking, lessons can include practical exercises, pronunciation, comprehension, vocabulary development and strategies for responding confidently and effectively. For Reading and Writing, I can help students understand question types, develop structured approaches, improve their use of English and identify common mistakes.

I can also support students developing their general English skills or preparing for other English proficiency examinations such as TOEFL and PTE. I have first-hand experience preparing for and taking both examinations and can share practical strategies based on that experience.

My goal is not simply to help students memorise examination techniques. I want them to understand the language, develop practical skills and become more confident communicating in English, while also giving them effective strategies to perform at their best in their chosen examination.
