About Katie
I started teaching an imaginary class at the age of five and teaching is a vocation for me. I have taught in five schools and worked as an examiner and a Head of Department. In 2022, I returned to university as a mature student for my MA and my PhD so I now work as a private tutor - online and in person - from my home classroom in the Lake District, with my labrador, Bruno, by my feet. My partner, Liam, is an outdoor instructor so teaching is part of our family life and when we are not at work we explore lakes and mountains on our paddleboards and bikes.

I have twenty five years teaching experience and I offer private tuition alongside my academic work as a PhD candidate. I have a BA (Hons), an MA (Distinction) in English Literature, and my tutoring sessions are tailored to meet the needs of individual students. I am passionate about my subject and I love to teach. I work online and in person and my lessons are fun and interactive, even when I am teaching difficult material and challenging texts. I offer intensive revision lessons and long-term support for home-schooled students, as well as regular sessions for students who want to develop their knowledge and understanding. My approach is warm and inclusive and I welcome students of all abilities.

Details
I offer a trial tuition session at £35.
My hourly rate for KS3 students (11-14 years) is £45.
My hourly rate for GCSE and A Level students is £50.
I offer extended tuition sessions for £70: this includes 60 minutes of teaching and 30 mins of marking or verbal assessment on written work.
My fees are set according to:
* A student's stage of education
* The preparation required for GCSE and A Level tuition
* The time it takes to follow up each session with an email providing resources and / or study suggestions.
