About Jock
I'm a Geography graduate from the University of Exeter, where I studied one of the UK’s top-ranked Human Geography programmes. I achieved top grades in both iGCSE (Grade 8) and A-Level Geography (A*) while attending Magdalen College School - one of the top 10 secondary schools in the country. I’m passionate about helping students achieve their full potential — whether that means improving grades, boosting confidence, or tackling tricky topics like data interpretation, essay structure, or case study recall. I’ve supported school-age students and peers in the past and always tailor my approach to match the individual’s needs and goals. Friendly, reliable, and organised, I aim to make lessons clear, engaging and effective — helping you feel in control of your subject and confident going into your exams.

I provide structured, results-driven tutoring tailored to each student’s needs — whether you're aiming for top grades or just want to feel more confident in the subject. With a strong academic foundation in Geography (A* A-Level, iGCSE 8, and a degree from the University of Exeter), I help students develop clear understanding, exam-ready skills, and a deep love for the subject.
Teaching approach & techniques:
● Diagnostic start: We begin with a short, informal assessment to identify your strengths, gaps, and preferred learning style.
● Structured sessions: Each lesson follows a clear structure — brief content review, focused teaching, and applied exam-style practice.
● Flexible focus: Whether it’s physical or human geography, case study memorisation, NEA support, or data/map skills — lessons adapt to your needs.
● Exam success strategy: I emphasise clear essay frameworks, effective use of command words, and high-level evaluation techniques based on real mark schemes and examiner insights.
Lesson duration & format
● Standard: 1 hour sessions recommended for most students
● Optional: 45-minute booster or 90-minute deep-dive lessons available
● Delivered online with screen-sharing, collaborative whiteboards, and all resources provided digitally
Homework, marking & feedback
● After each session, I’ll set short, targeted tasks (past paper questions, essays, revision drills)
● All work is personally marked with structured, exam-style feedback
● You'll receive regular progress updates and advice on where to focus next
● Essay marking and exam prep support is also available as a standalone service
