About Melissa
I saw firsthand how impactful tuition can be, I have worked as a private home tutor as well as within a commercial tuition setting and both have been so rewarding.
I had incredible tutors myself to support me during my GCSE's & A-Levels, they helped me achieve grades at grammar school that gave me access to unconditional places at a great university.
I understand how frustrating it can be not to grasp a concept or to need a little more practice to let your skills shine.
I match my style and pace of tuition to the individual learner, I can be patient and understanding and will take on feedback to make sessions engaging and interesting.

Lessons/Sessions are 1 hour each.
I suggest an initial session for assessment & discussion of requirements
Lesson structure includes setting objectives, reviewing previous week's work, discuss challenging questions & determine extra practice needed, explain and explore key concepts and work through examples.
Personalised homework can be set if required for additional cost to be agreed.
I served as Director of an extra curricular tuition centre (part of a popular nationwide organisation) for 5+ years, this involved supporting children ages 5-14 in English, Maths, creative writing, 11+/exam preparation, SATS, phonics, reading and more.
I also assisted in creating curriculum and workshop content suited to varied levels and needs, so I am comfortable combining a range of methods for different learners (including visual, video, practical, etc.)
I hold a degree in Psychology and have undergone first aid training & DBS checks.
