About Mark

I am a 40-year-old teacher from the United States with a decade of experience teaching abroad in mainland China and within the US. I completed my most recent contract in China in 2025, and in my most recent role, I taught at a well-reputed elite boarding school in Tianjin, China teaching Australian ACARA curriculum in order to prepare students to obtain an ATAR. I believe that opening doors to new and greater opportunities is the most important responsibility for a teacher, and I will work closely and often with you to help you lean into your strengths and improve upon any weaknesses you might have as a language learner. I am patient, empathetic, reliable, and available. I will always go above and beyond our class meetings. After I make the commitment to helping you improve, I will put in as many hours as necessary both in and outside our scheduled times together to ensure you meet your goals. Thank you for considering me to be your teacher, and I look forward to getting to know you, not only as your tutor, but as your friend and ally.

About the lesson

Hello and nice to meet you! If you are a student learning English as a second or third language, I can help you. In my past work experience, I worked with students of all levels of proficiency to improve their communication and writing in English. I am also ready to prepare you for various English exams, and have extensive experience teaching and developing curriculum within American, British, and Australian educational frameworks. I would love to have a free consultation with you in order to determine what your needs are, and develop a sound academic plan in order to make sure we meet your goals. Whether you are looking to improve your ability to converse, prepare for college entrance exams or other tests, or need someone to use your own writing as a framework from which we can springboard a lesson, I am at your service.

Details

First 30-minute lesson is free. After that, I will charge $25 per 45-minute lesson or $15 per 25-minute lesson. Start/Stop times can be flexible, and I will be willing to work with you an additional 10 minutes per lesson if necessary.
