About Sam
I have been studying music for almost 12 years and am currently studying at the Berklee College of Music. Over the last 5 years, I have played many live performances, gone on tour, and done many recording sessions in the studio. I have found a real passion for teaching in the last few years and have had only positive feedback from my students. I can relate more to my students because I am a student myself, and I know what I would want from my teachers. I started studying classical percussion in the fourth grade, but have since switched my focus to jazz and the contemporary music world. This background of classical training has greatly helped my technique and reading abilities and has helped me excel in my contemporary endeavors. All to say that I am confident in my ability to teach classical or contemporary, or both.

My teaching method revolves around meeting the student where they are and helping them reach their desired level of proficiency on the instrument. Be it Bach sonatas on marimba, solo snare drum pieces, or learning how to play the ride cymbal in jazz, I am happy to show you all I know and help you along your journey. I can help you with technique, reading, time, different types of drum set grooves from around the world, or learning your favorite songs. I am open to all levels of students. Whether you are looking for a fun hobby, or you have a serious passion for music and the drums, I'm sure I can help you.
