About Elly
Hi, I’m Elly. I am a qualified Australian primary school classroom teacher with a passion for early years education and building strong foundation literacy skills. I specialize in supporting students as they begin their learning journey, particularly in reading, writing, and phonics.
I have experience teaching all areas of the primary curriculum, however my strength lies in early literacy development — helping students develop phonemic awareness, decoding skills, reading confidence, and early writing foundations in a way that feels positive and achievable.
As a teacher, I am warm, friendly, nurturing, and highly supportive. I understand that every student learns at their own pace, and I take the time to build strong relationships so students feel safe, confident, and encouraged to try. My sessions are structured yet engaging, using evidence-based strategies while keeping learning fun and meaningful.
I work closely with families or individuals to support students who may need extra help, confidence building, or reinforcement of skills taught at school. My goal is to create confident, capable learners by laying strong foundations that support long-term success in literacy and learning.

My lessons focus on creating a calm, positive, and engaging learning experience where students feel safe to learn at their own pace. Each session is carefully planned and tailored to the student's current ability, learning needs, and confidence level.
Lessons typically include a mix of structured letter name and sound recognition, phonics instruction, decoding and guided reading, as well as other literacy activities. As well as letter formation and early writing support. I use hands-on and online resources, games, and age-appropriate strategies to keep students motivated while building essential skills such as letter-sound knowledge, blending, reading accuracy, comprehension, and early writing confidence.
I place a strong emphasis on encouragement and positive reinforcement. Students are supported to take risks, practise new skills, and celebrate progress no matter how small. Lessons are flexible and responsive, allowing me to adjust activities as needed to ensure learning remains achievable and enjoyable.
My goal is for every student to leave their lesson feeling confident, proud, and excited about learning.
