About Helen

Classical violin and music teacher, online and from mid-November available for in person lessons in and around Felixstowe. I have over 25 years' experience teaching both violin to children and adults from beginner to grade 8 and cello to grade 5. In addition I teach theory and can offer support to students taking GCSE and A-level music. I have a PhD in musical composition.

About the lesson

Lessons are tailored to the individual, some students have specific personal goals whereas others look to my guidance to advance. I usually teach 1 hr lessons but am open to teaching for shorter periods for children and beginners. Most of my students have chosen to work through exams, some need guidance with school performances or want to learn specific pieces for fun.

Our family has had the pleasure of learning with Helen for the past ten years (at least), and I cannot recommend her highly enough. Both of my children started violin lessons with her at a young age, and she has been a constant source of encouragement, patience, and inspiration throughout their musical journeys.

Thanks to her excellent teaching, my son is now working towards his Grade 8 violin, and my daughter achieved her Grade 5. Helen has an exceptional ability to tailor her teaching style to each child’s needs and personality, balancing discipline with warmth and enthusiasm.

She creates a positive and structured learning environment that builds both technical skill and a genuine love for music. Over the years, she has not only developed their musical abilities but also helped them grow in confidence and self-discipline.

We’re truly grateful for everything she’s done for our family and would highly recommend her to anyone looking for a dedicated and inspiring violin teacher.
