About Juliana
Juliana is a multidisciplinary international artist, theatre director, dialect coach, translator and art educator. Founder and director of the international company La Pacha Apapacha, she has been directing and fostering intercultural collaborations in Denmark, Italy, the United States, Brazil, Mexico, Argentina and others. She worked as Head of
Language Department for the tv series Man on fire (Netflix) and has collaborated in several casting agencies, dubbing studios, film and theatre productions as a translator and proofreader for Spanish, Portuguese and English. Juliana has just stepped up to be the Brazilian Ambassador of VASTA (Voice & Speech Trainers Association), she’s participated at the international project Beyond Borders by Instabili Vaganti (ITA), the
Magdalenas Project (UK) and the theatre company Bardo Teatro (MEX). She has represented Brazil in various international conferences, such as HEMISPHERIC
INTEGRATIONS - Annual VASTA Conference and 2nd Voice and Speech CEUVOZ Meeting 2023 (MEX/US), UNFIX New York - art and sustainability event, Mujeres a
escena Festival (ARG), CIALC/UNAM (MEX), VISCESC Colloquium (MEX) and she had her essay published in Interdanza # 36 magazine. She was awarded by her solo
video dance short film at UNIFIX NYC Film Festival 2023 and won a scholarship at Caleidos Cia. De Danza (BRA) and at the XII Extreme Dance Festival (MEX). Her installation piece “The thousand - a tribute to human transience” was a part of Singing
our Place Festival in Denmark and featured in some of the most important theatre venues in Mexico. Most recent projects of her company are “Verano”, immersive theatre
play featured at Timeout magazine; “Our Home”, written and directed by Juliana; “The unmistakable beauty of being”, also by her, presented at the Festival Mujeres a Escena
(ARG), Primavera Teatral (CUB), Foro Shakespeare and Festival Fesartes (MEX); the Theatrical Triptych “Tanta Trampa” at Womb Mexico and “Beaut-I?”, also by her, at Brazilian Endowment for the Arts (NYC, US). She holds a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Performing Arts specialized in Art Education by Universidade de São Paulo (Brazil) with an Awarded Academic Exchange in Dramatic Literature and Theatre by Universidad
Nacional Autónoma de México (Mexico). As an actress, Juliana has participated in tv series such as Man on fire (Netflix US) and Brasil 70 (Netflix Brasil), she is the protagonist of the feature film Al otro lado de la piel, directed by Iván Tula, now in post-
production. She has participated in international projects such as Rags of Memory, by the Italian company Instabili Vaganti, Festival Performazioni (Italy); at the 7th Festival
Mujeres a escena (ARG) and Festival Franciscano (MEX) with “El Otro”; in A Sketch of New York - off-broadway show (USA). She has worked with international artists, such
as Instabili Vaganti (ITA), Alberto Villarreal (MEX), Teatro da Vertigem (BRA), Lot Meijers (HOL), La Pocha Nostra (MEX USA), Raúl Iaiza (POL) and has presented more of 20 works in various parts of the world.
