About Danielle

Learning should be both productive AND fun. It is my job to facilitate a relaxed and judgment-free learning environment. I hope that my students come to each lesson with a sense of excitement and without the fear of asking questions. There is no such thing as a stupid question, and mistakes are part of the learning process!

About the lesson

Hello, my name is Danielle! I'm from Florida, USA, but I currently reside in Italy half the year. I have 7 years of ESL teaching experience, ranging from young children to adults of all levels in various parts of the world. I also have 3 years of experience teaching Language Arts to young adults pursuing their high school equivalency certificate. My credentials include a Bachelor's degree in Psychology, a TEFL certificate, and a teaching certificate in Elementary Education. During our tutoring sessions we can focus on IELTS preparation, grammar, reading, writing, listening, and/or conversation. My teaching philosophy is that it should be student-centered. The goals of one student may not be the goals of another student, and those goals may change from day to day. Additionally, while listening skills are very important when learning a new language, I believe it is crucial that English learners speak during the lesson, as this is often what students struggle with the most. I find that beginner students often avoid this because they are so afraid of making grammatical errors. I think that students should let their thoughts flow freely, even if there are errors, and the teacher should correct them afterwards. It is my job to foster a relaxed and healthy learning environment so that the student feels comfortable making these mistakes and learning from them. Of course, this is only a suggestion. I am also glad to do more listening-centered lessons and I have tremendous experience with such lesson styles. On a personal level, I love yoga, nature, food, and travel. I look forward to meeting you!
