About Alison

I am an ESL teacher with 13 years' experience. I have taught English in South East Asia, Northern Ireland and Ireland. I am from Belfast, Northern Ireland but for the last nine and a half years I have been teaching in Dublin, Ireland. I have taught 100s of students over my 13 years, ranging from Elementary to Advanced level. I have extensive experience of exam classes including a wide range of English exams TOEIC, the Cambridge exams KET, PET, B2 First, C1 Advanced, BEC exams, Trinity preparation and IELTS. I am also a Cambridge Speaking Examiner with five years' experience. In addition to general English and exam classes, I also teach English for Academic Purposes (for university) and English for Specific Purposes (specific careers). Before becoming a teacher I worked as journalist and sub-editor for over 10 years, so my writing and proofreading skills are excellent.

About the lesson

I am a passionate teacher and a lifelong learner so I know just how important a good teacher is. In 13 years of teaching I have learnt the art of empathy and patience, when to push a student to achieve what they imagined impossible and when to stop them to look with pride on their achievements, with lots of fun thrown in along the way! I'm driven and I want the best for my students so I will do everything I can to help you along the way. I get great feedback from my students, so on the strength of their feedback I'm doing something right! My students say they love my lessons because I'm patient, encouraging, funny, open to new ideas and I challenge them to stretch themselves. My aim is to create a positive learning atmosphere where you feel supported and not afraid to make mistakes, after all we learn most from our mistakes! CHEAPER LESSONS Team up with a partner or some friends to do a group lesson at a lower rate.
