About KARRIE

I'm a 28-year ESL career professional with experience teaching in Egypt, Japan, El Salvador, and the US to students from all over the world. I have a Bachelor's Degree in Communications and am TEFL certified. The most valuable education I've had however is the many years of teaching experience and all I've learned along the way.

About the lesson

Hi! Thanks for looking at my summary. I have taught for many years in the classroom in the US, Egypt, Japan and El Salvador as well as online, from groups of 20+ students to individual private lessons. Most of my experience is with teenagers and adults. I always do TOTAL IMMERSION meaning that we don't use the student's native language during the lessons. I have a communicative approach so we get started speaking right away no matter what level the student is. For example, I might introduce a grammar point to practice and then I'll have different communicative activities using that grammar point in order to understand it and make it work. I have many resources to make all my lessons customized to the individual and what they need and want to accomplish. I always do an assessment during the first meeting in order to get to know the student and their level and what they want to accomplish. Then, we plan for the future lessons. I recommend at least 1 hour for each lesson as many times a week as possible in order to see results faster.
