About Alessandro
I'm Alessandro, a hydraulic civil engineer with a PhD in Hydraulic Constructions and Hydrology obtained between UniCampania and TU Delft, where I conducted advanced research on the modelling and calibration of both water distribution and urban drainage networks.
With SWMM I have published papers in top-tier international journals — including the Journal of Hydrology and Environmental Research — on hydrological calibration, combined sewer overflows and water quality modelling. With EPANET I published a paper in the Journal of Hydroinformatics together with the creators of the software and its core algorithm, on improving the latter.
I use both software tools through both the graphical interface and Python. I currently work as a Project Engineer in corporate, dealing with sewer infrastructure in the field: a rare combination of advanced research on both tools and concrete professional application.

Lessons are personalised based on your level and goals: from the first installation of the software to advanced use with the Python API. We always work on real-world cases.
Lessons can cover, for example:
Beginner: software interface, network building elements, steady-state and extended period simulation (EPS).
Intermediate: pumps, reservoirs, hydraulic calibration, pump curves, valves (for EPANET); subcatchments, hyetographs, flow dividers (for SWMM); results analysis.
Advanced: GIS integration, Python automation, hydraulic and hydrological calibration with advanced algorithms.
Lessons online with screen sharing. First lesson is free to define the path.
Ideal for engineering students writing a thesis on water networks, water utility professionals, researchers and PhD students in the hydraulic sector.
