About Kate
As a recent graduate, I can completely empathise with the stress students experience during their high school years. There is a constant pressure to achieve certain grades, receive a goal ATAR and not fall behind on peers. I do believe all these things are important in different ways, however a number or ranking should never come at the expense of a student's mental health. My goal is to tailor a learning experience to meet the needs of my students and allow for better understanding and subsequent personal growth. This may look like breaking down an essay structure , reading a play out loud to truly grasp an author's intent or reading countless football-based reading comprehensions to connect to a student's passion. Every learner is unique and I firmly believe that English is a subject for everyone.

As a tutor, I believe that specific feedback and incorporating a student's passions- no matter the subject- is crucial for learning and improvement. My speciality is the essay writing structure which is essential for academic papers. I also am deeply passionate about creative writing and the study of literary texts. I have several years experience tutoring middle school and high school students. Typically my lessons run for approximately 45 minutes to an hour and around once to twice a week depending on a student's workload.
