About Ciaran
I am a graduate in Arabic and Spanish, with experience studying linguistics, translation theory, and teaching English as a foreign language (TEFL). I have 3 years experience of voluntary English tuition to non-native speakers of all ages, and 2 years experience of private Spanish tuition for students young and old. I have helped a number of students who have been studying for GCSE, A-Level, Pre-U, and IB qualifications in Spanish, and tailor my teaching to cater to the specific requirements of these certificates.

My teaching and course-content is tailored to the specific learning needs of each student. For those studying for certain qualifications, I use the certificate-specific syllabus as a basis for learning and academic success. Otherwise, I strive to help students formulate their own learning goals on which I can base their teaching: whether it be for professional purposes or just for fun!
For younger learners, I employ songs, games, and videos to introduce basic concepts and vocabulary. I highly value authentic materials, e.g. newspapers, articles, songs, as teaching resources for learners at an intermediate level or above.
I take an approach to tutoring that allows for functional development of reading, writing, speaking, and listening as practical skills. I also create a strong basis in theoretical aspects of the language which equips my students with a framework on which to build their learning.
