About Yasmin

Hi! I’m a first-year medical student at Leicester, soon heading into my second year. Like many students, I completed my A-levels during the pandemic, which taught me a lot about independent learning and staying motivated through uncertainty. I achieved an A in Biology, and that subject in particular sparked my passion for science and helped shape my path into Medicine. Studying such a demanding subject has pushed me to develop strong communication and organisation skills, especially when it comes to breaking down tricky topics into simpler, more manageable parts. I’ve always enjoyed helping others understand challenging concepts, so tutoring felt like a natural next step! Whether you're aiming to boost your confidence, deepen your understanding, or just need a bit of extra support, I’m here to help. I know how tough things can get, and I’m excited to share what I’ve learnt and support you through your own journey. Looking forward to working with you!

About the lesson

My lessons are designed to be interactive, supportive, and tailored to your learning style. I aim to create a space where you feel confident asking questions, making mistakes, and truly understanding the subject rather than just memorising it. Biology can be a challenging subject, but with the right approach, it becomes much more manageable. In our first session, we’ll choose a topic you’re either currently studying or find tricky. This gives me a chance to understand where you're at and how you learn best, while also showing you what to expect from my teaching style. I like to use visual aids, clear explanations, and relatable examples to simplify complex concepts. Over time, I focus on building a strong understanding of key topics while gradually introducing techniques like active recall, spaced repetition, and exam strategy. My approach helps you make connections across the syllabus, spot patterns in questions, and improve your ability to answer confidently under pressure. I regularly check in with short quizzes, homework, and progress reviews to keep things on track and make sure you're steadily moving towards your goals. Lessons typically last an hour, but I’m happy to adjust depending on your preferences. I also offer guidance on personal statements, medical school applications, UCAT preparation, and general study strategies for anyone considering a future in healthcare or science.

Perfect! Yasmin is such a helpful tutor! She always explains things clearly and uses pictures and examples that make it easier to understand. She lets me pick topics I want to go over and makes sure I actually get it before moving on. We’ve also done exam questions together which helped me know how to answer them properly. I feel a lot more confident in Biology now, and the lessons are really relaxed but still focused. I’d definitely recommend her to anyone who needs help with school or exams!
