About Maudlyn
I am an English Literature and Creative Writing student. I have completed classes on linguistics and study the versatility of the English language every day. I am passionate about words and their meanings. I love to learn and I love to teach, and have combined my love of learning and teaching in my previous job as an Early Years Educator. Every day in my work as an educator, I found new, creative ways of teaching children about the world and about language. I watched as the children grew to confidently express themselves and in their uses of different words.

I base my classes on my understanding of individual speech development and the importance of using images and phonics when learning a new language. Having tried a number of platforms myself whilst learning French and Spanish (which I am still learning!),one thing that stuck with me was how much more effective these platforms were when I used them as a foundation from which to expand and learn in my own individual way.
Because of this, I approach teaching primarily by finding out more about the individual learner, such as their interests, how fast they read, how quickly they type and in what manner etc. From there, an individual plan for learning English to advanced level is created, and the learner is encouraged to implement their learning in their everyday activities and in situations where they are most comfortable. For example, if the learner enjoys cooking, one of the key areas of learning will be around cooking, writing a recipe in English, English words for different ingredients, having an English conversation in a restaurant and other exercises. This is all done with the intention being that the learner becomes increasingly confident in the language, associating it with something they enjoy doing, rather than a lesson they have to take at a specific time each day.
This style of learning is best suited to those who already have a basic-intermediate level understanding of English.
