About Marifer

As a dedicated fourth-year English major with a strong academic foundation in literature and writing, I bring both subject expertise and professionalism to every tutoring session. I approach tutoring with care, preparation, and respect for each student’s unique learning style. My goal is to help students succeed academically, while simultaneously building their confidence as readers, writers, and critical thinkers. I am highly detail-oriented and prioritize clear communication, thoughtful feedback, and well-structured lessons. Students can expect focused, engaging sessions tailored to their specific goals, all within a supportive, reliable learning environment where they'll feel comfortable asking questions and growing.

About the lesson

My goal as a tutor is to make content feel clear and manageable. Whether we're building grammatical skills, working through texts, or strengthening your writing, I focus on helping students understand why something works, not just what to say, so they can apply skills independently long after our sessions end.

A typical lesson plan, flexible and paced to the student's comfort level, looks like this:
1. Check in and goals: What assignment, text, or skill are we working on today?
2. Step-by-step walk through of task at hand
3. Independent application
4. Wrap up and next steps: discussion of lingering questions, takeaways, and optional practice suggestions.

As a current English student, I have extensive experience in reading comprehension, analysis, and academic writing. I can patiently and encouragingly help instill these skills in elementary, middle, and high school students. All levels are welcome, from those struggling to those aiming to excel.
