About Laura
I am an MEd graduate student at OISE, University of Toronto with an MA in English. I have held appointments as English Instructor at MacEwan University (Edmonton AB) and English Professor at Seneca College (Toronto). I have been teaching privately on line and in person since 2014.

My method focuses on communicative need and function. To teach essay writing, I focus on argumentation, use of sources, analytics, figurative language, literary devices, paragraph and sentence structure, grammar, style, and syntax. This method explains the role of context, genre, theme, form, image, sign, symbol, and metaphor in meaning and interpretation. I use direct instruction with models and exemplars. Interactive open environment learning, inquiry-based learning, and integrated literacy learning are key aspects of my teaching method,
