About Hector
I am currently in the fourth year of my English Literature undergraduate degree at the University of Edinburgh, specialising for my dissertation in Poetry and Critical Theory. I am also a practicing artist and musician and have taught students in English language, literature, art and music both here in the UK and abroad.

Assuming a rational and down-to-earth approach is how I try to de-mystify the discipline of Literature. Too often it is taught in schools as overly esoteric and detached from the realities of day-to-day existence. The truth of course is that literature is, above all disciplines, deeply entwined with the human condition; which is something that only became apparent to me in my latter teenage years, completely transforming my relationship with the subject. I help to reveal this more visceral and accessible part of the discipline to my students, greatly improving their results in the process.
