About Sophia
The ability to manipulate and analyse the English language is a highly powerful tool. This is because it can enable a student to express themselves more clearly and also challenge the brain's regular perceptions of reality. As a result, it opens pathways to deeper critical thinking, which is a fundamental trait in an academic mind. Regardless of current abilities, I have learnt that the way we write can be trained, and a subject like English is a skill that improves by prolonged practice. If anyone has been made to feel as though they cannot write and are a 'bad' English student, I refuse to conform to the false concept that this cannot be changed. Absolutely anyone can improve their writing skills, they just need the right help.
Furthermore, my passion for literature is reflected by the way in which it resembles the complexities and universality of the human condition and its societies. In some way, regardless of our differences, people will always find similarities with one another because of the mere fact that we are human. I look forward to inspire other students to develop their passion for the arts, and to create their own meaning to contribute to the beauty of literature!

My objective is to help students aim for the highest grades by showing them the same ways I have studied in the past and focusing on their weaknesses.
By sharing ideas behind the deeper philosophy of the texts, alongside the author's intentions, it can allow students to create their own formulated opinions surrounding the literary works, which enhances understanding of what they are studying.
As a result, not only can there be a greater efficiency when writing essays concisely, but they can also share and develop a passion for English!
A lesson typically would be 50 minutes to an hour.
Before the first lesson, I offer a free session to get to know one another, what texts they study, and to prepare the focus on what needs to be improved.
These lessons are aimed at GCSE students studying key texts, or generally needing help with English.
Experience: As someone who has been predicted lower grades than the potential I saw in myself, I know how it feels to be put in a state of struggle. However, having overcome the obstacles in both GCSEs and A-levels, where I was ranked 1st in my school for both the highest progress and attainment across all GCSEs and came from all Cs at AS-level in year 12, to A*AA, I am confident in applying the same growth to anyone.
I have also assisted in school, helping students face-to-face to improve their learning.

In terms of meeting, my hourly rate is higher if it requires me to travel further distances. However, for normal in-person lessons, I can book meeting rooms in a library or public space. Message to discuss further if necessary.
