About Minji
Hello! I am a 3rd year undergraduate student in Cognitive Science and Statistics at McGill University. I am passionate about meeting students where they are, accommodating different learning styles, and ensuring that learning can be fun and accessible to everyone. I have 300+ hours of experience working with children in various settings: as a sports coach, in STEM camps, and offering mentorship, as well as tutoring experience in secondary school English, Math, and French, and ESL. I am Basic First-Aid certified and bilingual in English and French for ease of communication, although lessons will be in English. Please feel free to contact me if you have any questions.

Lessons are geared towards secondary school students who are advanced learners of English or native speakers, and will be adapted to the student’s age, grade, and English level. Depending on the parent and/or student’s goals, lesson plans will be structured around school curricula or around a particular skill, such as reading comprehension or literary analysis. Typical lessons will include both assigned and in-class reading (short stories, poems, novels) and structured discussion on readings, as well as written work and grammar. I am also open to engaging in structured, 1:1 reading with younger readers who are learning to read. This would ideally take place at a local library, where the student can select a few books to read together. Emphasis would mainly be placed on learning to sound out and recognize words, acquiring new words, and gaining confidence in reading ability, but questions would be asked along the way to gauge reading comprehension and encourage true engagement with the material.
