About Dustin
I pride myself on my efforts to be present and available, kind and compassionate, mindful and calm. I am an effective ELA teacher who reads, writes, and meditates in my free time. The pride and joy of this work for me is being a steady beacon in my students’ lives knowing I am in a position to help in a meaningful way. I love introducing the joy of reading fiction to non-readers and the cathartic ways of writing to struggling writers. I believe in the artful power of the written and spoken word and the incredible awe that can be inspired by reading and listening.

I learn about your strengths and your areas for growth as it pertains to communicating, then we work consistently so that we make incremental growth. My lessons follow the typical workshop model where I show you a skill, then we work on doing that skill together, and then give you time and guidance to practice doing the skill on your own. What sets me apart from other tutors is my ability to foster strong working relationships, inspire self-belief, and encourage through high expectations, clear instructions, and incredible patience. I am the perfect tutor for anyone between 7-12th grade who hopes to get better at reading, writing, speaking, and/or listening.
