About Zachary

I have taught English at the University level for four years to hundreds of students. My students have gone on to high profile graduate programs, won writing awards and publications, and succeeded in developing unique voices in their own writing. I have also taught students from 2nd grade through senior year of High School through workshops and substitute teaching and have written many successful recommendation letters.

I received a Bachelors of Arts from the University of Arkansas, graduating Summa Cum Laude. I also received a terminal Master of Fine Arts degree in Poetry from the nationally ranked and award winning MFA program at the University of Arkansas.

About the lesson

As a Published Poet, a University English Instructor, and Poetry Editor for an international magazine, I offer lessons in Basic Literacy, Poetry Reading and Writing, ACT prep, Fiction Reading and Writing, Cover Letter/Resume Writing, English as a Second Language, and really anything to do with English Literature or Critical Reading and Writing Skills.

I think learning happens best when everyone is comfortable. I offer a friendly, conversational environment in which we both approach the topic as learners, discussing the intricacies of the subject before us.

Zachary gave an AP Writing Workshop at my school for my AP History students. They needed help understanding college-level writing skills such as the DBQ essay and other Free Response procedures. The results were outstanding. My students felt that he explained things in a manner they could understand. When they took the AP test in May, they were extremely pleased with their scores, and openly endorsed Zachary's tutoring as having helped them succeed. I highly recommend Zachary.
