My approach to teaching is deeply rooted in my lifelong dedication to studying literature, coupled with an understanding of its critical importance in the field of politics. I emphasize a detailed and analytical method, focusing on providing in-depth examples and structured steps to tackle specific challenges. This involves a blend of critical reading, thematic analysis, contextual understanding, and rhetorical strategy, ensuring students not only grasp the material but can apply their knowledge in diverse contexts, particularly useful in political discourse. First, I will begin with an overview of the day's theme or text, outlining key objectives and relevance to broader literary and political studies. I will then have you provide historical, cultural, and authorial context to enrich understanding and engagement with the text.
I will dive into the text with directed questions and prompts, encouraging critical thinking and analysis, focusing on elements like theme, symbolism, and narrative technique.
We will explore how the literary elements and themes under discussion can be applied to political communication, speech writing, and understanding political narratives. I will make sure to include interactive activities including engageing in debates, role-plays, or creative writing exercises that fuse literary analysis with political argumentation strategies.
Most importantly, we will summarize key takeaways and reflect on how the lessons can be applied beyond the classroom.
What Sets Me Apart as a Tutor:
My unique blend of extensive literature and history study with a keen eye on its application within the political arena sets me apart. This dual focus enables me to guide students not only in mastering literature but also in understanding its power as a tool for political expression and persuasion. I bring a passion for both fields, offering a nuanced perspective that prepares students for sophisticated analysis and effective communication in their future careers.
These lessons are for anyone under the 11th grade. (I DO NOT tutor in APLang or APLit, AP Gov, AP World as my school does not offer these courses). I teach: Literature, Trial, Law, APush, and more
