About Neelu

I am an English & American Literature graduate; I have completed my degree this year with a 2:1 and am now a teacher trainee at Brunel University, where I am studying for a PGCE in Secondary English. At A-Level, I achieved the following grades: A in English, B in History, and a D* in BTEC Business.

English has always been a passion of mine, whether it is reading or writing. Throughout my years of studying this subject, I have acquired excellent skills in essay-writing, analysing texts, and oral expression. Since I study a range of books from different genres, time periods and literary styles, I have gained a broad knowledge of literature and have also had the liberty of studying different authors, including Shakespeare and F. Scott Fitzgerald among many others. I am also experienced in the creative field of English and have had an original poem published in a children's poetry book after I entered a writing competition in school.

Allow me to share with you my passion for English and broaden your knowledge through the power of literature!

About the lesson

My teaching methods prove that English can be fun and enjoyable. In a world full of words and expression, learn how to do English through creative activities.

I have not yet taught professionally, however, I have been able to help young family friends. Depending on the task, my teaching methodology involves reading over a passage/extract, analysing key information, and producing accurate and informed responses which answer the question. I also provide several useful techniques for essay planning and writing, which can be put into practice by the student, which I will then assess before giving feedback and working on improvements. As I am for my students to pass exams with high grades, I can also help them understand assessment criteria and learn how to meet them.

I work well with those at a primary school level and I am also capable of providing effective help to secondary and GCSE students in language/literature.
