About Lyndsey

I am a recent graduate who has just finished up her masters in English literature and creative writing. I am now applying to become a secondary teacher as my subject is my life. I enjoy teaching and have often tutored undergraduate students during exam times and assisted with essay writing. I have a simple, straight forward system for any academic writing that the majority of students have found extremely helpful. Of the students I have tutored, most have acheived a 2.1 or higher. I also offer lessons in creative writing and provide helpful proofreading sessions aswell as thorough feedback.

About the lesson

I teach a wide range of literacy subjects including english language, literature, poetry, criticism, academic writing and creative writing. My general structure is to break things down. For example, if I were helping a student with a essay that had to be 2,500 words I would first split this up into catagories. 500 words for the opening (including texts you plan to discuss, any relevant criticism and the reasoning behind your argument. I would then help the student to come up with three core points they want to make in their essay. Once this is done, I would simply re-word those points the student wants to make into indepth questions so the student is not writing the daunting task of a 2,500 word essay, they are now answering three seperate questions with answers of 500 words. This usually can take up to a week but can also be done withing a few days if necessary. once this is complete the student now has roughly 2000 words of the 2,500 words due. All that is left is a 500 word conclusion which after some indepth editing of the first 2000 words usually falls into place. This is my academic essay structure that I usually always follow when assisting in essay writing. I similer methods for most of my subject areas as I like to take away the stree a student feels towards an assignment, I find that once the initial stress is removed the student is left with pure academic intrigued and therefor produces better quality work.
