About Mia Ly
I attended a highly selective London 6th form where I studied AQA Philosophy (A*), AQA Biology (A), Edexcel Chemistry (A), EPQ (A*), and AQA Level 3 Applied Mathematics (A). I am currently studying Medicine at the University of Edinburgh and in the 2022 UCAS application cycle received 2 offers for medical school and placed in the 9th decile for the UCAT.

After transitioning from GCSE Religious Studies to a pure philosophy A Level I understood that this subject was unlike anything I had studied previously. At the start of my course I struggled with the intense workload and specificity of the subject but over the course of 2 years I developed revision strategies that aided both my knowledge and application of philosophical theories and this eventually led me to achieving an A* in AQA A Level Philosophy. My approach to tutoring philosophy is unlike my approach to tutoring the sciences as I spend 1 hour sessions reviewing knowledge, essays and essay plans that have been allocated for my students to complete outside of lesson time to maximise our time and ensure that students are clear on all concepts and that areas that they are less confident in are focused on more in this content-heavy subject.
