About Lisa
I have been an elementary educator for twenty-four years. Thirteen of those years have been in the Reading Specialist role.
I have taught in public schools all throughout the suburban Chicagoland area, as well as in a private school in Miami Beach, Florida.
I currently work as an Academic Project Coordinator at National Louis University in Chicago. I work in the College of Education working on academic projects for students, as well as recruiting tutors for Chicago Public Schools in the areas of literacy and math.
I highly value education and feel that every person has the right to learn how to read, which is why I'm passionate about students achieving this goal.

As an educator and reading specialist of twenty-four years, I get to know students personally first so learning can take place. I work with elementary students learning the foundation of reading and have had a successful career of teaching students how to read and attaining this life skill throughout their life.
A typical lesson with contain the components of the science behind reading, including the phonemic awareness and phonics.
Based on this knowledge, I'll work on fluency and applying the foundational structure of the language and apply it within phonetical readers and engaging text.
Once the structure is established, I'll work on comprehension and meaning behind text.
Additionally, students will enjoy educational games that expand their mind while feeling confident about their reading.
