With each lesson I revise a chosen chapter of work, doing multiple examples of the work with more than one technique used. This ensures that I find the preferred style of your child when doing the work (many ways to skin a cat, right?) and assign homework after each lesson.
The homework is then marked and discussed during the next lesson, to identify any problem areas the student might have with the work, discuss these issues, do examples and assign homework again.
This ensures that the work is explained to the students, along with examples they can reexamine at a later stage, they practice the work themselves in their own time and the student and I look over the work, identify problems and refocus on those problems.
