About Llana Rose
Hi! I’m Llana, an experienced educator who believes that every student can learn when they are given the right support, encouragement, and opportunities to think for themselves.
I have six years of teaching experience from Kindergarten through Grade 12, with a Bachelor’s degree in Secondary Education, major in English. My teaching background includes English Language Arts, elementary Math, ESL, IB PYP, curriculum development, and assessment.
My goal as a tutor is to make learning clear, engaging, and confidence-building. I use a student-centered and inquiry-based approach, where students are encouraged to ask questions, explore ideas, and understand why something works—not simply memorize an answer.
Whether your child needs help strengthening academic skills, catching up on a challenging topic, preparing for the next level, or simply becoming more confident in learning, I will meet them where they are and help them move forward—one step at a time.

My teaching method: I use a student-centered and inquiry-based approach. I believe students learn best when they are actively involved in the learning process—not simply listening to an explanation or memorizing an answer. I guide students to ask questions, make connections, explore ideas, and think through problems, while providing the support they need along the way.
Rather than immediately giving students the answer, I use guiding questions, examples, modeling, discussion, and step-by-step practice to help them discover and understand concepts. I adjust my approach based on each student's learning level, strengths, and areas for improvement, allowing them to learn at a pace that is challenging but manageable.
A typical lesson: We begin with a quick review or warm-up to identify the student’s current understanding. I then introduce or explain the target skill, model the process, and guide the student through practice. We finish with independent practice, feedback, and a short review of what they learned and what to work on next.
What sets me apart: I bring six years of classroom teaching experience from Kindergarten through Grade 12, a Bachelor's degree in Secondary Education with a major in English, and experience in IB PYP, ESL, curriculum development, and assessment. I also use digital learning tools such as IXL to personalize practice and monitor student progress.
Who I teach: I work best with elementary and middle school students, particularly in English Language Arts, reading, writing, grammar, vocabulary, and elementary Math. I also enjoy working with ESL learners and students who need additional academic support or a more individualized pace.
