About Ashanti

I am an Educational Psychology major with extensive experience tutoring English, grammar, reading comprehension, and academic writing for middle school, high school, and college students. I have worked closely with English language learners, international students, and first-generation students, which has strengthened my ability to explain concepts clearly and support learners at every level. As a tutor, I believe students learn best when they feel supported, understood, and guided step-by-step. My teaching method focuses on building strong foundations in grammar, reading comprehension, and essay writing while helping students gain confidence in their voice and communication skills. I break concepts down into clear, manageable parts and use real examples to make English feel simple and approachable.
A typical lesson begins with a quick check-in on what the student is working on, followed by a short, focused mini-lesson on the skill they need (for example: grammar rules, thesis statements, paragraph structure, or reading analysis). After that, we apply the skill together using their homework, a reading passage, or a writing prompt. I always end with actionable feedback and easy steps the student can continue using on their own.
What sets me apart as a tutor is my background working with international students, English language learners, and first-generation students. I understand how overwhelming academic English can feel, so I teach with patience, empathy, and clarity. I also specialize in helping students turn their ideas into strong, organized writing — whether it’s a paragraph, an essay, or a research assignment.
