About Cecilia
I'm a Chinese native speaker and a Gen Z student who's passionate about languages and cross-cultural connection. I scored 7.0 on the IELTS, which means I understand what it's like to learn a second language — the struggles, the frustrations, and the breakthroughs. That experience makes me a more empathetic and patient conversation partner.
I've had plenty of real interactions with international friends and foreigners, so communicating across cultures comes naturally to me. I'm easygoing, open-minded, and I genuinely enjoy meeting people from different backgrounds.
As an INFP, I'm a great listener — I'll never make you feel embarrassed for making mistakes. My goal is to create a comfortable, encouraging space where you actually want to speak and explore the language freely.
I may not be a certified teacher, but I offer something equally valuable: authentic, natural Chinese the way it's spoken by real young people today.

Hey! I'm a Gen Z Chinese native speaker with IELTS 7.0, and I'm here to help you speak Mandarin the way young Chinese people actually do — not the stiff, textbook version.
My approach is simple: real conversations, real topics, real progress. Each lesson is tailored to you. We usually start with a quick warm-up chat to get you comfortable, then dive into a topic you actually care about — whether that's traveling in China, making local friends, navigating apps like WeChat or Xiaohongshu, or just surviving a Chinese hotpot dinner. Along the way, I'll naturally introduce vocabulary, fix pronunciation, and explain the cultural context behind what people say.
I also dedicate part of every lesson to Chinese youth culture — internet slang, trending phrases, viral memes, and what Gen Z in China is obsessed with right now. This is the stuff no textbook will ever teach you, but it's exactly what makes you sound natural and relatable to real Chinese people.
What makes me different? I'm not here to drill grammar rules at you. I'm here to have genuine conversations and guide you to express yourself confidently in Mandarin. My style is relaxed, encouraging, and flexible — we go at your pace, always.

My current rate is $24/hour, which I've intentionally kept accessible — I believe great Mandarin practice shouldn't break the bank, especially when you're just getting started.
Lessons are primarily held online via video call, so no commute, no extra fees — just log on and let's talk. Any learning materials I share are included at no extra charge.
If you're based in Beijing or just passing through, in-person lessons may also be available! I'm located in Changping District, Beijing, and I'm happy to meet up locally depending on commute. Feel free to message me to check availability if you'd like a face-to-face session.
