About Charlie

My philosophy is about igniting a flame and passion rather than filling a vessel. Learning is nothing without spirit and enthusiasm.

I have studied Classics for over half my life and I recently graduated from Durham University so my knowledge is super fresh. During my time there, I gave presentations in front of class and anyone who appeared at the Classics Society events. I have a view to become a Classics tutor during my career.

I post Classics-related content on social media in the form of short videos that garner hundreds of views. I have also been an assistant in a primary school and volunteer in a charity centre.

About the lesson

In the introductory session, I want to learn about you, your goals as well as your strengths and weaknesses. Each student will have a tailor-made teaching approach made for them and this I curate outside teaching hours.

My style of teaching is entirely dependent on my pupil. I will work out what is best for them, whether that is: task-oriented, dynamic, goal-focused, imaginative, question-driven, didactic or creative. I pride myself in my communicative and cross-cultural competency skills.

My sessions will last from 30 mins to 1 hour, anything longer might drag out. I am very against the sit-and-listen lecture-style method of teaching. I can manage anyone who is taking GCSEs and below as well as people of any age wanting to learn Classics or English outside of public education.
