About Jack

I've been drumming for 18 years now, and still loving every day!

Initially starting out as a self-taught drummer - getting hooked after stealing a go at the end of a friend's drum lesson - I spent years cutting my teeth in local bands, playing to thousands all over the country in as many genres as I could...ranging in everything from Hip Hop to Prog Rock.

I later moved on to studying with various teachers alongside gaining a Performing Musician's Diploma, developing my sight-reading skills and finding a whole new way to enjoy this instrument. I'm now teaching 5 days a week both privately and in local tuition centres.

I've found that drumming gives me an outlet in life I'd never had before, and I hope to instil that same feeling with all of my drum students!

About the lesson

Whether you're an absolute beginner tackling those first fills, or a drummer looking to delve deeper into theory, I deliver a light-hearted but goal-oriented approach that works towards any student's aspirations at a pace that works for them.

I strive to provide a flexible lesson plan that will leave you with plenty to work with, always adapted to your preferred learning style. Lessons can be geared towards learning to sight-read/write drums, or take a more tactile route - learning by listening to your favourite bands/artists.

I teach students of all ages and backgrounds every day, often working through graded exams (1-8) where students gain a range of skills to help them get closer to their gigging goals.

I also enjoy getting my more experienced students to the next level through in-depth study of theory, feel and practical application of technique...so you can see how "that pad exercise" might actually lead to something great on the kit.

My goal is create a solid basis of skills for you to refer to in any future drumming situation, on-stage and in the studio.

Drums are fun; that's why we do this. My lessons aim to capture that spark that we all feel when we finally nail that drum part.
