About Charli
As you will quickly discover when we meet, I am extremely passionate about Spanish language, literature, and the Hispanic world more generally. I have spent the past 7 years studying Latin America and Spanish language, with a primary academic focus on the US/Mexico border and Argentina.
However, you might be surprised to learn that, in spite of the passion I have for my beloved second language now, I absolutely HATED Spanish at school. Though I remember learning a lot about grammar and the seemingly endless list of different past tenses, no one ever explained to me that this was a living, breathing language, nor that learning it would enable me to make new connections with people from all over the world. But once I finished school, I decided to travel to Colombia, which is where my life - on both an academic and personal level - changed forever. It was here that I came to understand for the first time that the once dusty, uninspired words I had learnt in the classroom had a real purpose in a real world, and it was so much more exciting than school could have ever prepared me for. A friend of mine once compared speaking a foreign language to having a superpower, or a really powerful magic key - with that in hand, doors will open for you wherever you go.
If you like the sound of my lessons so far and you're struggling with Spanish or finding your classes dull, then I would be delighted to try and change your mind. Alongside our personalised academic plan, I am happy to provide tailored suggestions for you of films, books or TV shows on topics which interest you AND help you keep up with your listening and/or reading practise.
I am currently accepting students of any age who are at A-level standard or below. Lessons will be 50 minutes long, with marking and extensive prep charged at the same hourly rate.

The content and structure of our classes will largely be determined by what you would like to learn or improve on, whether it's learning Spanish from scratch, preparing for school exams, or just learning a few helpful phrases for an upcoming holiday. In our first free session, we will talk over your main objectives and ambitions for our classes so that I can develop a learning programme which is tailored to your specific needs. I provide one-to-one and bespoke support on Spanish speaking, reading, writing, and listening skills, as well as personalised grammar exercises and weekly recommendations for music, film, TV and literature to help with your Spanish listening and reading outside of our classes.
As a triple University graduate with two degrees from Oxford, I can also support Oxbridge and other university applications.

Perfect! Charli would be the perfect tutor for anyone, she adapts her teaching styles to suit you. She also puts the effort in to assist outside of the lesson time with any queries you may have.
