About Alisha
"Curiosity about the natural world drove me to pursue science through the rigorous lens of an MSc Physics degree from the University of Oxford. 13 years of experience have proven that science is best understood by constantly asking why things happen rather than memorising dry facts. This approach allows me to connect with college freshmen, GCSE students, homeschoolers, and adult learners returning to science. I focus heavily on plant biology, mitosis and meiosis, and complex cell biology processes.
My practice centres on the scientific method, biological drawing, and the intricacies of DNA and RNA structure. Students also explore the nervous system, physiology, and the mechanics of evolution and natural selection. Watching a student transition from confusion to clarity is the most rewarding part of my work.
Years spent in the classroom have solidified my methodical approach to teaching complex biological systems. I keep the atmosphere warm and energetic during our interactions."

"Understanding biological systems requires building a strong foundation through clear reasoning and worked examples rather than rote repetition. Science is essentially a logic puzzle that becomes accessible when broken down into manageable segments. My degree from Oxford provides the analytical framework used to explain nervous system signalling or evolutionary patterns to GCSE students and homeschoolers.
We utilise biological drawing to visualise cellular structures and the precise steps of mitosis or meiosis. This method ensures that the scientific method becomes a habit of mind for my adult learners. Physiological processes are simplified through analogies that bridge the gap between theory and observation. You can expect a conversational style that prioritises conceptual grasp over memorisation."
