About Atish
Atish Mukhopadhyay is one of the very few “SARODE” virtuosos from the present generation of ‘North Indian Classical Instrumental musicians’ – an avid scholar of traditional music and the direct representative and torch bearer of ‘Maihar Senia Gharana of Baba Allauddin Khan’ - the famous musical lineage that carries the music tradition from the 16th Century North India, made most famous by Ustad Ali Akbar Khan and Ustad Aashish Khan. Atish is a gifted musician who is trained since childhood and has given numerous live performances across the globe since 2005 to high critical acclaim. His soulful performances are a combination of high levels of improvisation, melody, rhythm, and depth.
Atish has conducted over 600 music workshops, lecture demonstrations, and educational programs worldwide, including renowned institutions such as the University of Pennsylvania in the USA, Panjab University in India, Rimsky Korsakov State Music Conservatory in Russia, and P. I Tchaikovsky State Music Conservatory in Russia, among others.
In recognition of his achievements, Atish was honored with the prestigious “Nikolai Rubinstein” award by the Ministry of Education, Government of Russia in 2022. This recognition came on the 10th anniversary of the full-time course in North Indian Instrumental and Vocal music that he designed and launched at the Moscow Tchaikovsky Music Conservatory, making him the first Indian recipient of this award.

My vast experience has taught me that every student is unique. Once I assess a student, I immediately customize the teaching method and pace to fit their needs. I teach in modules, with each module consisting of 10 lessons, each lasting 30 minutes. I typically schedule two lessons per week. With nearly 40 years of studying music, I have developed a deep and extensive knowledge of the subject. As a teacher, I have over 18 years of experience, including teaching at renowned music institutes around the world. My music lessons are open to all, regardless of age and skill level.
