Format of teaching
Each lesson begins with material selected around your interests and objectives. You study the material beforehand; the lesson then becomes a conversation in Chinese—questioning, discussing, interpreting and exploring the ideas behind it.
The emphasis is not simply on speaking more Chinese, but on thinking, expressing and engaging more naturally in Chinese.
A Sino-British perspective
Educated in China, the UK and France, Sammy has spent his personal and professional life between Europe and Asia. His work in Sino-British cultural exchange, etiquette and interpersonal skills provides a distinctive perspective on the relationship between language, culture and ways of thinking.
Alongside this, he has advised the World Bank, Asian Development Bank and governments in Central Asia and the Caucasus on tourism and culture.
This means that Chinese can become more than a subject of study: it can become a way of understanding China and engaging with it on a deeper level.
