About Bel

I am a dedicated and passionate educator with approximately 30 years of classroom teaching experience, a Master of Education in Early Childhood Education and Teaching Special Education, and international teaching experience as an Expat Teacher for Primary Education in Indonesia.

Throughout my teaching career, I have developed a strong commitment to helping children learn, grow, and reach their full potential. I believe that every child learns at their own pace and deserves patience, encouragement, and a supportive learning environment.

My teaching approach is child-centered, engaging, and developmentally appropriate. I use interactive activities, storytelling, visual aids, and positive reinforcement to make learning enjoyable and meaningful.

As a Reading Teacher, my goal is to help young learners develop essential literacy skills, build confidence, and discover the joy of reading. I strive to create a safe and encouraging environment where children feel comfortable exploring, asking questions, and learning new things.

About the lesson

Building Reading Skills with Confidence

My reading lessons for preschool children focus on developing foundational literacy skills through fun, interactive, and age-appropriate activities.

I begin by building listening skills and phonological awareness through nursery rhymes, songs, rhyming words, and activities that help children recognize sounds in spoken language.

Next, I introduce letter recognition by teaching children to identify uppercase and lowercase letters and associate each letter with its corresponding sound. I use visual aids, flashcards, picture cards, storytelling, and hands-on activities to make learning meaningful and enjoyable.

Once children become familiar with individual letter sounds, I gradually introduce phonics and sound blending. Children learn to combine simple sounds to read basic consonant-vowel-consonant (CVC) words, such as cat, dog, sun, and pen. I provide guided practice, repetition, and positive reinforcement to help them develop confidence and accuracy.

I also incorporate vocabulary development and listening comprehension through picture reading, storytelling, and simple questions about characters, events, and ideas. These activities help children connect words with meaning and develop an early love for reading.

Throughout each lesson, I adjust the activities according to the child's age, readiness, learning pace, and individual needs. I use encouragement, games, and interactive exercises to maintain interest and motivation.

My goal is to help every child develop essential pre-reading and beginning reading skills, build confidence, and establish a strong foundation for future literacy development.
