Techniques and teaching methodology
My teaching style is supportive, engaging, and personalised to each child’s level and goals. I use interactive activities, guided conversation, reading practice, and structured writing exercises to build confidence in speaking, pronunciation, spelling, and sentence formation. As a bilingual tutor, I can explain concepts clearly in both English and Chinese when needed, helping ESL learners understand faster and feel more comfortable. I focus on encouraging participation, correcting gently, and building strong language foundations step by step.
Typical length of a lesson
Lessons are typically 45 minutes, which suits children’s attention span and allows focused, effective learning. Longer sessions can be arranged if preferred.
Qualifications/experience as a tutor
I am a final-year physiotherapy student at the University of Otago, born and raised in New Zealand with native-level English and fluent Chinese. I have experience supporting children with learning and communication skills through my healthcare training, and I bring patience, clear communication, and structured teaching approaches to lessons.
