• When did you develop an interest in technology? Could you tell us about your first experience using a computer?

  I first got interested in technology because of computer games! My dad brought home some CDs with old games on, and I was hooked - my brother and I would play all the time.

• What is the technological evolution that has marked you the most, and what do you believe will be a turning point in this field?

  The accessibility of programming tools always amazes me. Just a decade ago, it was so much harder for the average person to get into programming.
  But with easy-to-use frameworks and languages available, the barrier to entry has been significantly lowered.

• Please share more about your speciality, your interest in it and, more broadly, its importance in the field of technology.

  My speciality is in JavaScript (TypeScript) web development.
  I've been practicing for many years now, starting with open-source contributions to tools I use everyday.
  Web Development is highly important in our daily lives. We use web apps all the time! It has made technology more accessible to people, and that's amazing.

• Do so-called 'visionaries', such as Bill Gates, Steve Jobs and Mark Zuckerberg inspire you or do you have other role models?

  I'm inspired by the people contributing to technology everyday without us noticing. They do so out of pure passion, and quite literally make the world a better place.

• Could you share an anecdote related to your student days?

  While studying, we were taught incredibly outdated languages 🙈 Stuff that no one should be using today.
  So whenever I work with a student on some old code, I always want to remind them that modern tools will make it much easier.

• What would you say to someone who is tech averse and uncomfortable in front of a screen?

  I get it, there's alot going on. But give it a chance, there is so much to gain from just a small understanding.

• Do you have any other passions - related or unrelated to computers and IT?

  I'm a practicing yoga teacher 🤸

• What makes you a Superprof (one that artificial intelligence could never replace)?

  I've been doing this for almost a decade now, and in this time, I've learned how to accommodate all types of learners.
  I believe we each have our own ideal way of learning, and I try to find that for everyone I work with.
